Guide-What To Expect At A Local Farm Fresh Farmers Market

NJ Seasonality Chart

Post Date:06/13/2017 9:22 AM

A guide for what to expect at a local farm fresh farmers market-

NJ Seasonality Chart

When will the farm vendors be selling tomatoes and peppers?

  • The season for tomatoes begin in July for Roma, Beefsteak and Grape Tomatoes. Heirloom Tomatoes season is August to October.

  • Peppers are in season between July and September

The Franklin Township farms selling fruits and vegetables at the Farmers Market will be selling certain produce they planted on their farms based on the NJ Seasonality Schedule.

Click here for the NJ Seasonality Chart to provide an example of when certain produce is generally available based on the growing season in NJ.

The Farms that are attending the Franklin Township Farmers Market may not be selling every item on the chart.  Check the market web page weekly to see what fruits and vegetables will be available that week.

I heard blueberries are coming soon! They are in season at the end of June and in July. Make sure you stop in to get your strawberries, asparagus, bok choy, kale, arugula and lettuce for they are close to the end of their season.
