Kingsberry Acre Fire

Post Date:02/13/2018 3:00 PM
On February 13, 2018 at 6:26 AM the Franklin Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call from a resident on Kingsberry Drive reporting a structure fire.  Numerous patrol officers responded and upon arrival found the residence fully engulfed in flames.  They immediately began to evacuate residents from adjacent units.  Firefighters from the Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention, Kendall Park, Middlebush, Little Rocky Hill and Griggstown responded to the scene to battle the blaze.  EMS personnel from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital were also on scene.

A total of 3 units were deemed uninhabitable as a result of fire and smoke damage.  One resident required housing assistance from the American Red Cross.

The Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention is conducting an investigation into this incident.  The initial investigation revealed that the fire did not appear to be suspicious in nature and started in the garage area of one of the homes.   The fire then spread to the adjacent units on either side.   No residents were hurt as a result of the incident.  One police officer suffered a minor injury and was treated and released.  The actual cause of the fire is still under investigation.
