Presents FREE Workshop with Giveaways for Homeowners!

 The Central Jersey Housing Resource Center’s (CJHRC) free program for homeowners will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5:15 pm to 8:30 pm.  This FREE program will be held in a private downstairs conference room at CJHRC 600 1st Avenue, Raritan, NJ  08869.

This workshop has been revamped and will be much more interactive with participants walking away with important information they want and need.   While in the past the topic of budgeting and tracking of expenses was covered, now participants will each receive a calculator and a bill paying organizer and will do a few real life examples so they feel confident to create a budget after the program. 

Participants will learn about homeowners insurance and will receive a special handout for listing possessions while also going over 10 real life insurance scenarios.  The topic of home maintenance, energy efficiency and rebates will be covered. The Raritan Boro Fire Marshall will cover fire & carbon monoxide safety and fire safety tips during the holiday season.  Participants will have a chance to win a fire extinguisher. Other topics include scams to avoid, how to hire a contractor, identity theft prevention and important documents to keep on file.

“Many homeowners experience problems and aren’t familiar with the programs available to help them.  We believe the program enhancements we have added will benefit anyone, whether a family has owned their home for 20 years or 2 years” stated CJHRC Executive Director Sharon Clark. 

Pre-registration is required by November 3, 2014 by 5 pm as the class has limited space to the first 40 people.  A $5 gift card will be given to each household who pre-registers, attends and turns in a completed evaluation.
