FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP FLOOD INFORMATION
WHAT ARE THE RISKS AND WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREPARE?
The Franklin Township Engineering Department routinely publishes articles in our community newsletter, the Franklin Times. These articles deal with a number of stormwater and flooding issues including tips on what residents can do to help minimize the impacts of flooding and how to keep our streams and drinking water clean. The Department also makes a yearly report to the Mayor and Township Council on the efforts being made to make the Township safer when flooding does occur.

The Franklin Township Engineering Department does more than just write articles. We are proactive in many ways that better resident’s safety and quality of life. We make yearly submissions to FEMA to maintain our status and the associated discounts to Township residents in their Community Rating System. We send yearly reports to the NJDEP to demonstrate our compliance in our Tier A Municipal Stormwater Discharge Permit and that we continue to care for our streams, sweep our streets clean and maintain our stormwater systems in good working order. Our Engineering Inspectors routinely inspect large stormwater detention facilities to insure that they are properly maintained. We also review and inspect all new development applications (including individual dwellings) to insure that stormwater regulations and ordinances are being following.
