FREE Informational Course for Homeowners

The Central Jersey Housing Resource Center’s (CJHRC) free program for homeowners will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 5:15 pm to 8:30 pm.  This FREE program will be held in the downstairs conference room at CJHRC at 600 1st Avenue, Raritan NJ 08869.

This interactive workshop provides participants with not only information but tools/giveaways to assist them.  Each will receive a calculator and a bill paying organizer to help them feel confident to create a budget and track expenses after the program. 

Participants will learn about homeowners insurance and will receive a special handout for listing possessions and the speaker, Janice Petronella (State Farm Agent) will also go over 10 real life insurance scenarios.

A presenter from CJHRC will cover the topics of home maintenance, energy efficiency and rebates will be covered. 

Frank N. D'Amore Jr. the Raritan Boro Fire Marshall will cover fire & carbon monoxide safety and fire safety tips during the holiday season.  Participants will have a chance to win a fire extinguisher.

Other topics include scams to avoid, how to hire a contractor, identity theft prevention and important documents to keep on file.

“Many homeowners experience problems and aren’t familiar with the programs available to help them.  We believe this free  program can help any homeowner,  whether they have owned their home for 20 years or 2 years” stated CJHRC Executive Director Sharon Clark. 

Pre-registration is required by November 3, 2014 by 5 pm as the class has limited space and dinner is being provided.    A $5 gift card will be given to each household who pre-registers, attends and turns in a completed evaluation.
