Mission Statement:

The mission of the Franklin Township Police Department is to protect and enhance the quality of life via a Community Policing Operational Philosophy, through a partnership with the community, and to promote a safe and secure environment, free from crime and the fear of crime, for all who live, work or visit our community.

Members of the Department are dedicated to accomplishing this mission by maintaining public peace and order through fair, impartial enforcement of the law, fostering an environment of cooperation and trust within our organization and the community, and challenging the future with a spirit of optimism and innovation.

  • Introduction: Join us for an Independence Day celebration on Monday, July 3rd at 6PM and to end the spectacular night with Franklin's fireworks at 9:15PM!

Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks

Monday, July 3rd at 6:00pm @ the Franklin Township Municipal Complex

The festivities will take place at the Franklin Township Municipal Complex located at 475 DeMott Lane, Somerset NJ 08873. This free event is open to the general public and will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display at 9:15pm. General event parking is available in the lawn area by the gazebo on DeMott Lane and Sampson G. Smith School. ADA Parking is available near the gazebo lawn area and the lot behind the animal shelter.

This family friendly celebration will include food trucks, exhibitors from local township businesses, organizations, and children’s activities. Musical performances will be at the gazebo by the newly formed Township Jazz band (comprised of Franklin musicians), the Villagers Theatre and the featured band, Total Soul.

In the event of inclement weather, the celebration will be rescheduled to Friday, July 7th at 6:00pm. 

Attendees are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and their own refreshments, however alcoholic beverages and tobacco products are not allowed.   

Photos and videos will be taken during the event for promotional purposes.  Attendance implies consent. With the exception of service dogs, animals are not permitted.
