Take Notice that the Township of Franklin (located in Somerset County, New Jersey) has contacted the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection proposing to divert 0.14 acres on a portion of Castleton Park (Block 383 – Lot 43.01, located at 816 Easton Avenue) for the purpose of installing a valve and associated equipment on the existing Sunoco pipeline. To construct the valve and associated equipment, a temporary surface easement will also be needed:
- 0.14 acres - permanent surface easement in the northwestern corner of Lot 43.01 to install Valve and associated equipment
- 0.07 acres – temporary surface easement to provide for a workspace during construction, to be extinguished one year after project completion, with ownership reverted to the Township of Franklin.
The proposed project will allow for more efficient and safer operation of the Sunoco Pipeline in this area, extending service to Franklin Township residents and the surrounding areas.
As compensation for the proposed diversion, the Sunoco Pipeline, LP will provide monetary compensation to the Township of Franklin, corresponding to an appraisal performed for the proposed diverted land.
Pursuant to N.J.A.C 7:36-26.8, a scoping hearing to obtain public comment on this request will be held on:
