Somerset County is updating its Hazard Mitigation Plan. The plan focuses on existing and future buildings, infrastructure, and critical facilities that might be impacted by natural disasters. Ultimately, the mitigation projects identified and implemented will reduce vulnerability and enable communities to become more resilient to disasters.
The update of this plan allows Somerset County and participating jurisdictions to continue to be eligible for future pre- and post-disaster mitigation funding from FEMA. Example of grant-eligible projects include home acquisitions or elevations and local flood control measures.
You are invited to participate in the upcoming Public Kick-Off meeting on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30 PM at the Somerset County Emergency Services Training Academy at 402 Roycefield Road in Hillsborough, NJ. As a part of this plan update, the public is welcomed and encouraged to participate, as residents can provide incredible insight to ongoing hazards in their community. We hope to see you all there.
If you are unable to attend the Public Kick-Off meeting, please consider participating in this plan update by completing the Public Survey, available through this link at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/SomersetNJ_PublicSurvey
