Franklin Township Municipal offices are closed Friday, June 21 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

 Juneteenth commemorates the day, June 19, 1865, (two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation) when the Union Army made its way into Galveston, TX under the leadership of General Gordon Granger, and he announced to the people of Texas that all enslaved African Americans were free.
