Celebrate April-the month of poetry, aquariums and zoos-with a selection of poems to amuse and enlighten at the Franklin Township Public Library on Wednesday, April 6 at 7:00 pm. Hear the Cool Women reading poems of birds and beasties, wild and tame, common and rare.
Cool Women was founded 20 years ago by poets Betty Lies and Carolyn Edelmann as a supportive poetry critique group. The group's membership grew over the years, and about 15 years ago they began giving performances for Valentine’s Day.
Each performance has a theme. Each poet brings poems, but does not know what the others have brought. They read (perform, sometimes sing) their poems—always connecting with the poem that has been just read. The result is a concert of connected songs that varies in tone and emotion from poem to poem. Always a roller-coaster reading!
This is a free adult program, but older children and teens are welcome to attend. Please visit the Library's online event calendar at www.franklintwp.org or call 732.873.8700 for more information and to register.
