GENERAL PURPOSE
Under direction of the Municipal Court Administrator, Deputy Court Administrator and Municipal Judge this position is responsible for performing general nonsupervisory duties within the Municipal Court.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of Municipal Court Administrator and Deputy Court Administrator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Data entry of traffic tickets and complaints filed with the municipal court into MACS
• Printing E-tickets via MACS.
• Schedules cases for court.
• Prepares, e-mails and prints court calendars via PageCenter.
• Records and logs court proceedings.
• Receives fines, costs and other monies paid into the court and posts all payments in ATS/ACS or MACS.
• Responds to telephone and correspondence inquiries, including but not limited to letters of representation and disposition requests.
• Answers phone calls and responds to walk-in inquiries, assists defendants with technical and procedural guidance.
• Grants adjournments within general guidelines for traffic and non-indictable matters.
• Handles special requests for information in accordance with prescribed rules and regulations set forth by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
• Processes all notices generated for traffic and criminal complaints, including but not limited to scheduling notices, failure to appear notices and warrant notices.
• High volume routine contact with general public, attorneys, court administrative personnel and various law enforcement agencies.
• Assists in court sessions, enter dispositions on the bench.
• Assists in special projects assigned by the Municipal Court Administrator and/or Deputy Court Administrator.
• Accepts and distributes bail under supervision of Municipal Court Administrator.
• Assists in all aspects of Municipal Court sessions including checking in individuals involved in court session, collecting fines, returning bail, etc.
• Serves as runner from Prosecutor’s Office to Courtroom.
• Schedules video conferencing with jails.
• Processes and reconciles daily deposits.
• Pick up and distribution of Court correspondence.
• Required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Judiciary Employees.
• All job responsibilities are performed in accordance with the New Jersey Rules of Court, Supreme Court Directives, Code of Conduct for Judiciary Employees, laws and established policies and procedures governing the operation of the Municipal Courts.
• Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• Knowledge of modern office methods, practices and equipment.
• Knowledgeable with Microsoft TEAMS & Zoom platforms.
• Must be tech savvy.
• Must be a motivated self-starter.
• Must be able to take initiative.
• Ability to multi-task, handling high volume phone calls and window traffic, requests from police, attorneys and other court staff.
• Ability to perform tasks involved in the maintenance of records with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize and organize assigned work in conjunction with time constraints as promulgated by court rules and office procedures.
• Ability to perform work requiring attention to clerical and numerical detail.
• Required to learn to use various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the office.
• Communicate effectively with staff and other outside agencies, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
• Ability to draft correspondence and other written documentation.
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
• Maintain confidential information.
• Ability to accurately maintain records.
• Must possess good typing skills.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy.
• Deal with public calmly, tactfully and courteously.
• Maintain effective working relationship with all employees and general public in a courteous and tactful manner.
• Ability to understand and follow detailed work procedures.
• Ability to operate essential equipment required for position.
• Requires accuracy and attention to detail, strong customer service skills, experience in handling cash, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Previous court experience desired/preferred.
• Experience using Automated Traffic/Criminal System (ATS/ACS), MACS System and Page Center.
• Successful completion of Principles of Municipal Court Administration (POMCA) Levels I and II or ability to complete within six (6) months of hire date.
• Bilingual (Spanish) desirable.
Special Requirements:
• Must be available to work evening court sessions.
