Press Release - Structure Fire

On April 11, 2015 at 12:19 PM the Franklin Township Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a residential structure fire on Willow Avenue.  

Upon arrival patrol officers found smoke and fire coming from the home.  When the fire started there were four females ages 65, 31, 27, and 10 inside the residence.  All of the occupants had escaped prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.    All four suffered smoke inhalation and were transported to the hospital.  The 27 and 10 year old females were transported to St. Peter’s University Hospital in the City of New Brunswick.  The 65 and 31 year old were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.  The 65 year old female was later transferred to St. Barnebas Burn Center in Livingston, NJ. 

Firefighters from the following companies were on scene to battle the blaze:  Somerset Fire and Rescue, Middlebush Fire, Elizabeth Avenue Fire, Millstone Valley Fire, Community Volunteer Fire, Griggstown Fire, South Bound Brook Fire, Bound Brook Fire, Middlesex Fire, River Road Fire, and Finderne Fire.  Emergency Medical Personnel from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, East Millstone EMS, Somerville EMS and Hillsborough Emergency Medical Service were also on scene. 

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Franklin Township Office of Fire Prevention.  The initial investigation revealed that the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
