PRESS RELEASE - UPDATE TO HIT AND RUN MV CRASH

The Franklin Township Police Department has identified the bicyclist involved in the serious hit and run motor vehicle crash as Jose Parada, 41, of Kingston. 

On Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 10:35 PM the Franklin Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a bicyclist had been struck on Laurel Avenue in the Kingston Section of the Township.  Upon arrival officers found Parada on the side of the road suffering from a serious head injury.    

As of June 2, 2015 at 12:00 PM, Parada was in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

The initial investigation revealed that Parada was riding his bicycle on Laurel Avenue towards Route 27 when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle.  The vehicle is believed to be a passenger vehicle with damage to the front end and/or passenger side, and may possibly be red or burgundy in color.  The vehicle was last seen traveling from Laurel Avenue towards Route 27.

The Franklin Township Police Department continues to seek the public’s assistance with this investigation.  Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Officer Jose Jaime at 732-873-5533 extension 3143.
